Renna
Sidelined for Molson Indy Vancouver Due to
Injury
(Engelwood Cliffs, NJ, August 28,
1998)- Mattco Raceworks driver, Tony
Renna, was injured in a karting incident
which will render him unable to drive his
Lola in the PPG Dayton Indy Lights Molson
Indy in Vancouver, British Columbia,
Canada.
Renna was diagnosed by Human
Performance Institute Medical Director,
Dr. Michael Fulton, MD, an orthopedic
surgeon based out of Daytona Beach,
Florida.
Tony's left clavicle was fractured and
minimally displaced by the impact of his
collision, explained Dr. Fulton. The good
news is with appropriate bracing, he will
be able to heal with out surgical
intervention. He is, also, involved in a
rehabilitation program, which in part
consists of strength training and rest. I
have recommended Tony avoid competitive
driving for at least another week.
Renna, also, missed testing in both
Monterey and Thunder Hill due to his
collar bone injury.
I am very frustrated I can't drive, but
I am very anxious to get back in the car,
commented Renna. I am doing everything
Dr. Fulton recommends to help speed up the
healing process. If all goes as expected,
and Dr. Fulton gives the okay, I should be
back for Laguna Seca.Mark Hotchkis, who
substituted for injured Mattco Raceworks
driver, Chris Simmons, during the earlier
part of the season, is the likely
candidate to substitute for the injured
Renna for the Molson Indy in Vancouver.
