Hotchkins
Named to Replace Renna for
Vancouver
(Engelwood Cliffs, NJ, September 1,
1998)-Mark Hotchkins has been named to sit
in for injured Mattco Raceworks driver,
Tony Renna, who was injured earlier in the
month in a karting incident. Mark will
race in the Molson Indy Vancouver in
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on
Sunday, September 6, driving the No. 77
Alco Capital Group/The Nassi Group Lola.
This will be Mark's second time
returning for an injured Mattco Raceworks
driver. Hotchkins substituted for Chris
Simmons in four races earlier in the year
while he was recovering from a neck injury
sustained at a test at Nazareth.
"I am happy to return to Mattco
Raceworks. I think Matt (Cohen) is a team
owner concerned with making his team happy
and most importantly-winning. I think it
is rare to find a young team that has
improved so quickly and has already had
it's first win."
Team owner, Matt Cohen, made the
decision to put Hotchkins in the car after
learning of Renna's injury.
"I think Mark is an outstanding driver.
He has done well for us in the past. I definitely think he is a god
choice to fill in Tony's shoes while he
recovers."
Simmons will be returning to Vancouver
for the fourth time, placing as high as
third place in 1996.
"I really can't wait to go back to
Vancouver. The fans have made some
changes to the track so we'll have to
learn how to set-up for those. I tested
with Mattco Raceworks during the middle of
August, and I think we learned some things
which will be applicable to Vancouver."
Mattco Raceworks and the rest of the
PPG Dayton Indy Lights paddock will race
at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada,
September 6. They can alternately be
viewed on ESPN at 7:00 p.m. EST and 4:00
p.m. PDT on the same day.
